Younes Abouyoub has over 25 years’ experience in the field of international affairs, conflict prevention and resolution, governance and development with the United Nations and other international organizations. After graduate and post-graduate studies at the Paris University Sorbonne, the Geneva University (Uni Mail), and Columbia University (NY), he received a PhD in political sciences. He holds several other university degrees, including Master’s degrees in Sociology, Law and Applied Foreign Languages to Economics. He partook in several peace building and conflict resolution processes around the world. Younes has held diverse positions in the UN system including Director of the Governance and State-Building Division; senior political adviser of the UN Under-Secretary General for Conflicts Prevention; Senior political advisor to the UN Special Envoy to Burundi, Senior Adviser in the Office of the UN Special Envoy to Yemen; Senior political officer at the UN political mission to Libya (UNSMIL). He was appointed by the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon as the Senior Regional Expert in charge of the political issues in the UN Security Council Panel of Experts on Sudan (Darfur conflict). He published numerous scholarly studies, edited books and reports, as well as op-ed articles.
